Bonefish are found primarily inshore, living in the shallows of the Florida Keys. These shallows are usually less than 1 foot deep, and are usually over lush grass flats. Occasionally they are found over white sand.

An average bonefish weighs between 3 and 5 pounds. The largest bonefish in the world are regularly caught on the flats around the Florida Keys. Here, bonefish are regularly 10+ pounds.
